Who are HSR:UK?

We are a committed group of 11 major UK cities – Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, and Sheffield – that have joined together to call for the development of a high-speed rail network, which will not only link centres of economic activity in the UK, but also connect to the high-speed network already in existence in Europe.

Between us we are responsible for generating over 25 per cent of the nation’s wealth and recognise the key benefits that HSR would bring to the UK: connectivity & economic development, environmental improvements and increase in capacity.

The intention of this group is not to decide the route for HSR or the cities it should serve – that must be based on economic assessments and passenger modelling. Our objective is simply to make a strong case for its realisation.
