Liverpool’s iconic waterfront is a Unesco world heritage site, but behind the familiar skyline is a thread that connects its past, present and future: the city’s people are its creative heart and distinctive voice.

Liverpool’s selection as European Capital of Culture 2008 was a tribute to its wealth of assets and to the passion and enthusiasm of its people. Over 15million people attended events throughout a year that also showcased the city’s physical rebirth. The stunning Liverpool One retail development is just one of over 300 new developments that have contributed to the £4billion transformation of the city centre.

“Liverpool is proud to be a member of High Speed Rail UK (HSR:UK), striving to improve the connectivity of the North with London, the rest of the UK and Europe and to establish itself as an international gateway. Liverpool is keen to raise awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of this with our stakeholders.”
